14k gold filled 18" chain with hammered arc pendant.

Cut & shaped to resemble an "Uluit" or  "Ulu" knife,  an all-purpose knife traditionally used by Yup'ik, Inuit, and Aleut women of Alaska. Archaeologists estimate Ulu knives to be well over 3000 years old. The Ulu Knives were utilized in applications as diverse as skinning and cleaning animals, cutting a child's hair, cutting food and, if necessary, trimming blocks of snow and ice used to build an igloo. It was originally made from rocks, slate, or even jade. Handles were fashioned out of wood, ivory, or bone and often decorated with distinctive markings of the craftsman. When the owner of the tool died, it was given to a family member or a close friend and was cherished and used with pride, passed down from one woman to another.
